About Lee Ann, Author of Spooky Romances

Hard to believe I would be writing an About Lee Ann Page, or that I would have reached the half-century point this past year. I still feel sixteen most of the time, and find this to be the most creative and enjoyable time in my life, with the best adventures yet ahead of me. I often drive around with the car windows down and loud music blasting, if I am in the mood on a nice day; and I sometimes enjoy pranking my friends and family, so for sure, I don't act my age. It must be all those preservatives in the foods I used to eat!

I am a middle-aged lady who lives in Wisconsin, in a town right on the shores of a beautiful lake, in the home I share with my husband.

We have three large dogs, and I definitely come from a "dog-loving" family. Jake, we adopted from a rescue shelter after he was abandoned to the streets in terrible condition. The "senior" dogs have the hardest time being adopted but often the sweetest temperaments, so it we who were the winners when he came here to live with us. The other two dogs are ages 2 and 1. Dakota, who is with me in the photo is two now.

Having human "kids" as well; I'm pleased they are all adults in their 20's with their own lives now. One is happily married and the other two are single with no signs of settling down soon. All three are happy, healthy and employed, so I'm thankful for that.

More about Lee Ann---I wasn't always free to write romance and run a website. For many years I was a security supervisor and eventually a security account manager. My last couple of assignments were especially high stress, high profile and sometimes dangerous. It wasn't uncommon for me to work 60-hour weeks: nights, weekends, holidays and to be on-call 24/7. I was responsible for a lot of people. To be honest, I enjoyed it for a long time, but after many years it was getting harder to deal with physically and emotionally. I will use an old 80's term and say "I was getting burned out". The job didn't change though, I did, and eventually I decided to move on to working in a field I truly love and can live with.

Some of those middle-of-the-night security shifts fueled a lot of writing ideas as I walked around in scary, spooky places dodging bumps in the night. I love being an author now, and there is nothing else I would want to do. I'm glad though for all the writing ideas I came up with through the scary nights, all the friends I made and all the laughs we had.

So here I am....writing, doing volunteer work, administrating this website, and caring for dogs. I contribute money to a lot of pet rescue organizations and wildlife conservation groups--maybe more than I should sometimes! My husband and I enjoy baseball games, trying new restaurants, and rummaging around yard sales for treasures.

I am still writing during my free moments, and actually I have been since I was a child. I used to stay up late with a flashlight, a cheap pen and my spiral notebooks, under my make-shift tent of blankets and sheets, faking sleep when my parents passed by the room. And yes, I still stay up way too late writing, and pretty often too!
